I gave an introduction to Joe Pitt in my review for Already Dead so for the sake of not repeating myself on the intricate details of the lead character in No Dominion, I’ll link you to that review.

No Dominion is the second installment in the Joe Pitt case files and moves the over-arching plot on nicely from it’s dramatic starting point, while still having a solid plot all on it’s own. No Dominion sees Joe Pitt moving out of his comfort zone and into the streets of Harlem and into Hood territory – working a dirty job for the Coalition to keep up his supplies of blood and some cash to pay off his overdue…

I was given an advanced reader copy of this book by Black Library via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

An honest review so I’ve got to start with confessing that this was my first ‘Did Not Finish.’ I got to around 46% and couldn’t put myself through it any more as I struggled tooth and nail to get that far. There was something about Knights of Macragge that I just couldn’t connect with – to the point felt sorry for someone when I saw them buying a copy in the local Game Workshop store.

Knight of Macragge is the story of Cato Sicarius and his Company of Ultramarines, set primarily during the time when they are…

“Under the command of the newly appointed Warmaster Horus, the Great Crusade continues. Fulgrim, Primarch of the Emperor’s Children, leads his warriors into battle against a vile alien foe, unaware of the darker forces that have already set their sights upon the Imperium of Man. Loyalties are tested, and every murderous whim indulged as the Emperor’s Children take their first steps down the road to true corruption – a road that will ultimately lead them to the killing fields of Isstvan V…” – Black Library’s synopsis of Fulgrim.

I have buddied up with fellow book reader and reviewer Dave, from Wordaholic Anonymous for my Horus Heresy reads and when his review of Fulgrim is written up and shared I shall…

Pin-up Commissar

Some time last year I brought myself this fantastic Pin-up model by Anvil Industries - they make some great character models and I've never been a huge fan of GW Commissar models so when this guy graced my presence I just knew I had to paint him up for my Astra Militarum... somehow, he just... “Having witnessed the terrible massacre on Isstvan III, Death Guard Captain Garro seizes a ship and sets a course for Terra to warn the Emperor of Horus’s treachery.” – Black Library’s synopsis of The Flight of the Eisenstein

This review contains mild spoilers.

Continuing the run of Horus Heresy book reviews with the fourth book in a series of 50+ this is an ongoing saga that I am reviewing on The Eternal Bookcase and I am hoping to pair up with a reading buddy after this one to help encourage and smooth things along. This is the second time I have read The Flight of the Eisenstein and much like the previous instalments of the…

“The Emperor’s Spears are a Chapter on the edge of destruction, last watchmen over the Elara’s Veil nebula. Now, the decisions of one man, Amadeus Kaias Incarius of the Mentor Legion, will determine the Chapter’s fate… “

This is the first book I’ve been approved by a publisher to read via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

Spear of the Emperor is a chronicle about the Emperors Spears Space Marine chapter written in the view of Anuradha, a chapter slave in service to Lieutenant Commander Amadeus Kaias Incarius of the Mentor Legion who has been sent to the ‘wrong’ side of Imperial Space to touch base with the Emperors Spears to see how they’re…

“Having recovered from his grievous injuries, Warmaster Horus leads the triumphant Imperial forces against the rebel world of Isstvan III where Horus’s treachery is finally revealed … “ – Black Library’s synopsis of Galaxy in Flames.

Galaxy in Flames is the final book in the opening Trilogy for the Horus Heresy. Horus has recovered from the life-threatening wounds he sustained on Davin and is ready to stage his final gambit on Isstvan III.

As with the previous two Horus Heresy books, I have read Galaxy in Flames before and previously, I really enjoyed it; in a fashion. During my first read I was so captivated by the characters of the book – set up in the previous…

A little bit more personal than normal

I'd say for longer than three months I have been struggling with thoughts of quitting. Not just the thought of quitting blogging, drawing and painting miniatures, but properly quitting. A lot of the thoughts are intrusive and unwanted; they can be quite shocking when they come, but are often induced snap-times of higher stress; when... Continue Reading →
