Ultramarine Pin-Up

IMG_20181204_0003

A lot of my artwork is inspired by silly conversation over on Twitter. When discovering that there is someone out there who has as much need for Pin Up Space Marines as I do, I had to get back to work on that sort of thing!

It also fits in with the whole, trying to get better at drawing Space Marines thing, that I have going on at the moment.

The challenge is to do enough of these for a calendar. I won’t be able to get them done in time for 2019, I am not that fast, but I shall look into getting something sorted for 2020. I may look into doing my own KickStarter or some such, if the idea gets enough traction! As I sadly, cannot afford to create something like this out of my own pockets. We shall see! It will be good fun to draw them up regardless~

If you have any ideas for specific Chapters for the calendar, let me know!?

Space Marine Art Progress

IMG_20181204_0001

I am trying to do an amazing picture of Noise MarineĀ still and progress hasn’t been all that strong. I still feel like I am not getting the fundamental shape of Space Marines right just yet so I might have to have another hunt for a basic model and have another try. This was my latest attempt; which I got as far as lining in and then left it. Looking over it this morning, I’m not going to be finishing this one as I feel a bit too much of it doesn’t look right – nothing wrong with reassessing your work and binning it.

I shall give him another go in the near future. He has such an awesome design and I want to produce a piece of fan art that does him justice!

Noise Marine

Chaos Dude

There are mistakes with this one, but isn’t that the entire point of practising – so that you get better and improve on previous pictures?

Chaos isn’t my usual flavour, but who could say no to such a wonderful Noise Marine?

He is clearly based on the newly re-announced miniature from Game Workshop that’ll be hitting stores on the 22nd of December~

Lucas Agrahim 2

As mentioned previously, I am trying to change my content direction a bit and do more with the Warhammer hobby; be it photography, drawings, games or painting (Or anything else I can think of.)

I did a bit of sketching yesterday – I’d like to make Space Marines a part of my daily drawing practise as it’s the only way I’ll improve my craft with them – and these are the two I came up with.

Lucas Agrahim

They are both of the same character, Lucas Agrahim, a tactical sergeant from my Blood Guard chapter and twin of Rafen (Who needs a new first name as he currently shares the same name as my son which feels a bit weird now)

When I get some Bios up on here, there will be more about them both there~

Space Marine Sketches

I’ll be completely and totally honest – I do not find drawing Space Marines easy. I’ve not come up with a style or visual short hand that works for me yet; but I am trying my best and if I keep at it I know it’ll only get easier and I am sure I’ve improved since I first started drawing them as well; there I believe there was a ‘high point’ when I was drawing them more often where they looked better, but maybe that’s me looking back at my older artwork with rose tinted glasses?

The above guy, is Sergeant Rafen from my home brew Space Marine Chapter, Blood Guard. I really should give my guys a bit more attention; especially with the Codex in mind! If I’m going to be filling it with artwork and photographs I guess I need to actually do some of them!

These are just a couple of sketches from last night, where I was having a bit of a ‘dead art day’ and things weren’t looking right to me. I think I need to look for some artistic influences when it comes to Space Marines that also aligns with my own style; Games Workshop does produce some absolutely fantastic artwork, but it’s not as cutesy and cartoony as what I do so I either need to adapt my art style for the theme or find some sources of inspiration that align with my own style.

As a bonus, Nathaniel Greyson and Nihilius Tybant, Imperial Psykers both. Another couple of characters that I should draw more and do more with; but this is a sign of things to come. More 40k, less furry. Rejoice!

Konrad Curze

Curze

It’s been a while since I did any Warhammer fan art, and this one has been in the works for a while now. I find Warhammer art very challenging compared to the regular artwork that I do. So it’s always wonderful when I get one of the Primarchs series finished; even though the series has been in the works for over a year and I seem to have lost some of the original higher resolution files. Whoops.

Anyway, this is my interpretation of Konrad Curze, Primarch of the Night Lords.

I am pretty pleased with how the skulls in his legs look.
Derpy skulls are my ‘speciality’ so it was wonderful to be able to draw so many of them together in a single picture!

When I am ready to draw the next in Primarch, I shall hold a poll over on Twitter and see what we get!

Nihilius Tybalt Portrait

NTybalt

I wanted to make a quick portrait of my Dark Heresy Psyker – it’s been a while since we played any Dark Heresy, but it’s the one resource on my blog that keeps the punters coming back, so I thought I should do a little something for it.

That and the whiff on the air for our weekly RP group is that we’ll be picking it up again soon.

That and Witch Hunter, so I’ll have to draw my character for that sometime soon.
